Why Hectare is the King of Land Records in India
At JameenCalculator.in, over the years, we have spoken to thousands of farmers from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat. They all face one common problem. Whenever they get their official Khatauni, Patwari registry, or check their PM Kisan Samman Nidhi details online, the land area is always written in Hectares.
However, in our villages, nobody talks in Hectares. When a farmer buys or sells land, or calculates the crop yield, they only understand Bigha. This creates massive confusion. People constantly search the internet to find out how many Bigha make one Hectare, and often get the wrong answers.
The Secret Behind State Wise Conversions
The reason internet searches confuse you is because Hectare is a global metric standard, but Bigha is a local tradition. A Hectare is always exactly 10,000 square meters everywhere in the world. But the size of a Bigha changes as soon as you cross a state border.
- Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan: Here, a standard Pakka Bigha is quite large. Therefore, 1 Hectare contains approximately 3.95 Bigha.
- Madhya Pradesh: The Bigha in MP is much smaller. Because of this, it takes about 8.97 Bigha to make 1 full Hectare.
- Gujarat: In Gujarat, the measurement falls somewhere in the middle, making 1 Hectare equal to roughly 6.17 Bigha.
How to Use This Smart Converter
We realized that a single calculator cannot solve India's land measurement problem. If a farmer from MP uses a UP calculator, he will get completely wrong land details, which can cause heavy financial losses. That is exactly why we built this smart state wise converter.
Simply look at your Khatauni document. Enter the Hectare value precisely as it is written for example 0.7530, select your state from the dropdown menu, and hit calculate. The tool will instantly apply your state's specific formula and give you the exact Bigha measurement.
